The Emotional and Rational Brain

We like to think that we are completely rational creatures, and have “tamed” our emotional brains, but the reality is that the way we think isn’t as rational as that. In reality, we are constantly switching between our rational and emotional brains, and frankly, that is a very good thing.

Jonah Lehrer has written a very good book (with a not so great title), called “The Decisive Moment”. In this video, he talks about some of the key areas covered in his book, and also provides some insight into why we don’t have to choose between rational and emotional.
